That's what she said. (adventures in car insurance)

So I needed new insurance for one of my vehicles. Now I've had Progressive for over a decade (Emerald rewards level), and they've always treated me right. Paid out fairly and quickly when a deer ran into my old car, and my rates are embarrassingly low.

But my latest vehicle was a problem for them. One of their general rules is not to insure anything with altered suspension. Well this truck has definitely not stock suspension. Fairly obviously. But their phone agent was nice enough to recommend a few local agents who might be able to find a policy for me.

So I give one a call and a nice sounding young woman answers. I explain the situation, but she has trouble understanding why Progressive wouldn't cover it. She asks is it a cargo van of some kind? Like a delivery truck? No, more of an off road vehicle actually. She asks me to email her a picture.

No problem, I'm sitting at my computer and it would take but a second.

I click send, say it's on its way, and within seconds I hear this very nice sounding woman exclaim...

    "Oh my God it's huge!"

Well I've had a big old grin on my face all day.

Thank you. I'm really looking forward to taking it ice fishing. The local ice should finally be thick enough for a truck, and though a weird quirk in Wisconsin license plate rules I can finally drive it once it's February. It has special Hobbyist plates on it. They're kind of like Collectors plates, or Antique plates, great in that I don't have to get new tabs for them ever and the bank gave me a killer interest rate on the small loan I needed to get the thing, but that comes with special rules. Can't be your primary vehicle, can't be used for business, and oddly enough, can't be driven on the road in January with out a special exemption.

Well the month'o'parking is nearly done and I'm ready to use the darn thing, but got to get insurance to be fully legal.

Fubarius wins coolest vehicle to be posted on MCB, past, present, or future.

If Ford gits their head outta their arse and offers a non-commercial E-Series, a 4x4 option will be my next vehicle. Right now, I've got my SuperCrew F150 with a bed cap and just sleep in the back when camping.
