Pegboard?

I have pegboard, and need to use it, but HATE when the hooks fall out.

What's the best pegboard hook you've used, for the money? I can't go spending $100 on hooks, but the $20 board and hook kit just means they fall out all the time.

I have a 4x4 total area, and just want the basics on it. 12v drill/ driver, 2 or 3 tape measures, a pair of hammers, and a trio of combination squares. Maybe a 2' level and a torpedo level, and a couple screwdrivers. The big stuff can get its own hooks next to the pegs.

You could put pegs in with the board not mounted then either drill small holes to zip tie them into place, or wrap tape around the back of the peg so it wont fall out. Then mount the board and hope you never have to move them again.

I use grid wall.

It’s a little more expensive but extremely sturdy. Right now I have two markers on each hook, for a total of 24 markers, and it holds it just fine.

There is some clip to hold the hooks in place ...

The other option is hot glue, it can hold the peg, but it flexible enough to break away when you want to move them ....

That's exactly what I was thinking about.
It's supposed to work great, but I don't have first hand experience with this.

I have some and they're terrible. Those look the same, but if they're just a little bit stiffer, they might work.

They do their job as long as you don’t break them or hit them

If we are solely talking about showing off markers, I use pegboard and these dual under hook things that are for power drills from Lowes.

They're fairly inexpensive and have these little push fit hooks to keep them secured to the board too!

I need to pegboard some markers at some point, but that would require plexiglass. My shop gets DUSTY, fast.

I have three times as many power tools as markers. If I start counting hand tools... well, there's a reason we don't park in the garage.

Haven't used pegboard in years due the frustration of knocking hooks off. I have a variety of magnetic tool holders, and highly recommend them for any ferrous hand tools. I put most of my power tools into containers to protect them from the drywall dust, but I'll make one of those wooden racks that lets you grab the pistol grip when I have a proper work space.

As far as the pegboard clips go, these solutions failed to please in my use case as I'd usually knock them off either being hasty or just not wanting to be careful with removal:

• those plastic clips
• hot glue

And these solutions worked alright:

• bend the tongs such that it's hard to insert the hook, effectively making a snap fit.
• heat shrink on the shorter nub, leaving a bit of excess to prevent it from getting damaged on insertion, and shoving it in - making a friction fit
