    Fatherhood

As of the 26th at 2am, I am officially a father. I guess I have been the entire pregnancy, but you know what I mean. What a wild ride it's already been. My wife has amazed me even more after going through this. I was able to catch the little sucker and bring her into the world, which was surreal. Proud of myself for being able to witness the entire beautiful, gory process and not become one those stories where the dad couldn't handle it or passed out LOL.

Bad ass. I am excited for this massive change.

Awesome, congrats! I stayed above the equator for both my kids. First kid they were concerned enough about delivering her they didn’t even say the gender. Everything was fine thankfully, but mom had a tough recovery. Second one was any easy delivery thankfully.

Now comes the hard work! First three months seem to take forever, but then things get better once baby starts sleeping. With my first, I would sit on the couch with one of the u-shaped pillows and cuddle the little one while mom got some precious sleep. I’d make sure to get everything in arms reach, sit still and play video games (baby didn’t like me moving). Good times!

Good luck, and remember to enjoy the little moments!

congrats. now the fun starts. your life WILL change. (and i dont mean all of that cheesy stuff abut "finally finding love")...

my advice to you in embrace it. Dont try and fight it. do what you need to do and make the sacrifices that you need to make when those times come. Dont look back about your life before kids or what if you didnt have kids (that will start to make you internalize things and start being resentful and stubborn). trust me.

my 3yo has a birthday within a few days of my father ("one life in, one life out" he says) and my 1yo has a birthday the day after mine...

the other thing is that you cant take anything personally. babies are basic input/output. they are not crying at 4am to wake you up make make you late for work because you didnt give then that home made smoothie ice pop after dinner... for me, it was basically one or two of 3 different things that was making them cry: soiled, hungry, tired. id start at the 1st one and work my way through.

Congrats! I have three and being a father has definitely been the most rewarding of all things I've done in my life.

the oldest two (8 / 9-going-on-10) are just old enough to begin enjoying paintball with me. I took them for my son's birthday and they really enjoyed it. I have been looking forward to getting them on the field with me since the day they were born. They both were asking to go again, so mission success!

Babies aren't "trainable". If you're lucky, they will start sleeping through the night consistently by 6 months. My first one did, but my second didn't until he was 3 years old. You need to let things go & just go with the flow. Not just with sleep but with virtually everything. Do not fight it or you will become irrationally mad at the world.

Make sure you & your wife have opportunities to get away. Even just for a half day to go do something else. Everyone needs a break sometime. This was very important for my me & my wife in keeping ourselves sane.
