Favorite lures?

Well we gettin into the hot months here and these little guys do indeed be slow to bite! With that being the case, I still find my self on the water most of these summer mornings and evenings breaking out the live crawly guys.

I thought it would be cool to see what kind of lures you guys gravitate towards.

I like my light spinning rods here in PA so I throw a lot of spinners, roosters, and spoons.

My Top 3:
1) Im a big fan of Blue foxes and PM's in early trout season.(rotate between both in different sizes)
2) Gotta be a blue fox pixee spoon. (Being born in alaska, i was raised and taught that these are precious metal)
3) if all else fails, trout rooster tail.

Big fan of these Joe's Flies Spinners in Brass/ black and red. I've caught Bass, Perch, Crappie, Sunfish, Trout, and Pickeral on them.

I have been throwing a jointed lure on the edge of pads lately and swimming frogs in the pads. This little guy was 2 nights ago.

Since my buddy and I were little we always go for the Rattlin Chug Bugs if the water is calm. Great for large mouth bass strikes.

I’d be willing to bet I’ve caught more fish on one of these with a white jig head than all other lures combined.

I have never had much luck with those but I’m not sure if I tried white. How do you rig them up?

Chuck E Ducky pretty much just make it so the shank of the hook goes through the fat part of the grub until the tip of the grub is right at the bottom of the jig head. It actually does seem to make a difference to have the grub body as straight as possible, so there’s a little bit of trial and error.

Well depends on what the target is, I assume your talking trout? I am mainly a fly fisherman when it comes to trout however if I am throwing lures you can't go wrong with a small crank style bait. A lot of guys avoid them for some reason but they just flat out work. Just an original Rapala floating or slow count down is killer then you can experiment from there. Spinner wise I am all about the Panther Martin but as a general rule I love a little crank.....

I like Booyah spinners I use the smaller size white for Bass. Works really good in lakes and ponds. I cast along the shore and pull em out of the cover.

All white works the best. Cast it op top of the thickest crap
you see (use heavy braided line…you’re gonna tow in some vegitation) and wait for the show. My wife’s uncle showed them to me, blows my mind how well they do.

Last year I decided to teach myself the Ned rig, as in my wanderings I see a lot of plastic senko/stick-baits washed up or just dropped on the ground after a single use. The plastic is still quite capable. Put it on a light mushroom jig head and toss it as a finesse technique. It is surprising how effective half a stick-bait on a mushroom head is. This year, I am trying to teach myself the wacky rig technique, and using small hair-tie rubber-bands instead of those o-rings to rig. I need to learn to detect the strikes on wacky rig better, as my current problem with this technique is that I detect too late, and the fish has swallowed the hook too deep. I am more likely to gut hook with wacky.

For painfish, it is hard to beat the ole split-tail plastic jigs like the ole Trout/Painfish/Crappie magnet.

For fly fishing, I got a few. I tend to fly fish for warm-water species (bass, panfish, etc.). If there is activity on the surface, I love throwing a foam popper. It is hard to argue the effective of a bead-head nymph, personally I like the tried and true Copper-John. When nothing else works, break out a woolly bugger. In the summer I like to put a Copper-John and a foam popper in a tandem (popper/dropper) rig and see what comes out to play.

Pan fish eat anything. I have pulled monster blue gills out with a 1/4” pice of white electrical cord on a hook (it’s what we had)

@chuck Too funny. At the right time of year, then can just hit a shinny bare hook.
