Frog fishing

Got out to do some frog fishing today.... caught some decent fish and one beast.

My bite to catch ratio is terrible with these things. Bass do love them, I just can’t hook them once they bite.

Yea, need a stiff rod and straight braid to get a hook set.... Any flex in the rod or line and it's probably going to miss

I like to trim the "tail" on my frogs just a bit. I will also bend the hooks out ever so slightly, a little is a lot. This will help your hook up.

As a kid we would gig frogs to use as bait for bass fishing.

Yeah dude, we used red and white tube jigs with the white skirt torn off to catch bullfrogs when I was a kid. Bullfrogs attacked anything that was red with aggressive voracity. Froglegs are also as good as they are made out to be with.some nice shore lunch breading and pan fried.
