    Bottle/dump digging

Anyone else bottle hunt or dig trash pits?

I've been working one spot for a few years now on and off and hit a really good layer this weekend. I'm mainly going for local stuff, so finding the hawley pa hutch bottle today was a bucket lister find for me and the 1914 porcelain license plate was a surprising find too, usually anything iron coming out of that spot turns to dust

Also found an old green/white swirl porcelain gear shift knob, gonna have to save that for a future car build

I love digging in old bottle dumps. I luck out because being a land surveyor I’m on lots of old farms in some towns. I have a bin full of old bottles at my office.

I used to go telegraph insulator hunting with my dad a lot. We would mostly go along railroad tracks, but the more dedicated hunters would look for old outhouses. For whatever reason insulators ended up in those along with all the bottles.

I found a bunch years ago when I did excavation. We were building a bunch of high end home’s along the Hudson River in NY. I found a bunch of bottles and those insulators digging foundations and screening top soil.
