Suggestions on fishing lures for Walleye’s in the BWCA?

It’s time to start thinking about warm weather hobbies!

This spring I’m going on a fishing trip in the Boundary Waters with some buddies. Last year I just brought a random assortment of lures from Scheels and the Flicker Shads seemed reasonably popular with the local walleyes, but I’m hoping to have a wider variety of lure options this year.

Mostly looking to catch Walleye’s, but there should be Northern Pike and Bass present in the lakes we’ll be camping on.

Who has some suggestions?

Just an update: mostly decided to stick with an assortment of Berkeley Flicker Shads and Rapala Shad Raps.

Paid more attention this time to the working depth of these lures and I’ll have a lot more that should work well in the shallow bays, but I should have everything covered from the surface down to 23’ which is about the max depth of the lake we’re planning to be on this trip.

No Walleys here but those will bring the Bass and Pickerel to your line.

When I go fishing for walleye on lake Erie (western basin) every year, we just use worm harnesses with half a nightcrawler and never have problems.

Probably will not get too many walleye bites with these, but you'll crush the bass and pike. Reel just fast enough to keep the buzzbait at the surface of the water.

If that picture is where you are going, the water looks to have a lot of iron. In dark waters I'd go with chartreuse

I've heard Perch colored Shad Raps, I fished around Ely last late summer/early fall. Didn't catch any Walleye, just some really nice Perch! One of the locals suggested grey paddletails on a jig head for walleye, and the loon colored whooper plopper for Smallmouth. Big fan of the Ned Rig for Smallies myself!!
