In KB 1 when Bea disarms Sophie (left arm) is there a reason she doesn't look at Sophie at all? Bea's gaze is mainly on the floor in front. Not at Sophie and not at upwards at O-ren.

Hmm - I believe she was gazing across the room after the arm cut, anticipating retaliation. Then it appears she leered upward toward dirty old O Ren, waiting for a reaction. However, Tarantino films are never designed to be easily interpreted by any human. Oh and the foot fetish ambiance throughout-
from the upwards angle of the shot it appeared that she was looking downward and infront of her she holds that way for a peculiar amount of time. but you are right that they can take a while to digest. I never paid attention to the foot content, id heard that about him and I think it makes a showing in Death Proof but aside from that i cant recall anything else.

Because as the scene started Uma Thurman had fake blood sprayed right in her eyes and was just concentrating on not dropping the pose and wiping her face.Comment

I think its a possibility but not likely. She wasn't visibly making an effort to dodge the blood fountain of Sophie. and at that though with not not looking at O-ren which seems somewhat dishonorable and unfitting of the character I felt like there is a possibility that Sophie wasn't physically there next to her feet when it was shot and VFX was supposed to put her Infront of Bea. thats highly speculative though.Comment

In a scene where a character (Sophie) is reacting to having their arm cut off, in a movie universe where humans contain 27 GALLONS of blood and the average blood pressure is apparently 1200/800, the sight line continuity of what is at that precise moment effectively a background character is a rather low priority, especially for a part of a scene that lasts about 3 seconds.Comment

I see that, I also know that Tarantino deals in subtlety at times. and ive seen the movie dozens of times but for some reason it stuck out this time and realistically I get the dismissive approach but sometimes when you pick up on something theres a reason why. Im not after or insinuating anything outside of wondering if there was a meaning to the aversion of viewer perceived sightlines.

Watch the scene again. The character clearly wasn't going to dodge the blood, but Thurman visibly winces when the stuff hits her in the face and she's clearly just trying to squint and blink and hold it together until she hears "cut" and would be free to wipe her eyes.
