    CCM vs Torpedo

I've got a 2k5 Timmy and an old BL Torpedo and a CCM S6 regulator.

Which would be better for running the Timmy?

Currently the Timmy is shooting with a dwell of 10 and LPR set at 70psi. I don't know what the CCM reg is at (currently using), but shooting ~280fps.
It will cycle all the way down with LPR at 50psi but velocity is ~225fps.

It looks like the CCM reg screw has another turn before being flush with the cap, if I could potentially go lower?

    Thanks for your input!

I don't know about recharge rates and such, but torpedos came stock on Timmies and I rarely saw them changed out. I do love my CCM regs, but I've only ever used them on pumps.

Having owned an Alias Intimidator for many years, my torpedo never had any issues keeping up.

Cool, ya I guess would the CCM be able to keep up? It's a little lighter and has a good feel, so I'd like to use it.

May want to give CCM a shoutout on that one, if they haven't recreated a new account here already.

I've been happy with Torpedos on Timmys in the past, and on a Spyder build that was pretty darn awesome. They weren't the greatest in terms of positioning the fitting, but they never failed me.

My $.02 is this: Any CCM product up against any torpedo, and the torpedo wins. Blows it to smithereens.

I'm echoing this. Never had a problem with a Torpedo reg. Not to say the CCM isn't good but the Torpedo hasn't changed pretty much ever and is still rocking strong. As a bonus they are easy to rebuild. I have CCM regs on a couple CCM guns and they are fine but those aren't fast guns to begin with so it really doesn't matter much.

Second. I absolutely despise the hose fitting location, but man, are they easy to rebuild. Torps are one of the few regs with a side fitting that I actually don't mind using.

So funnily enough after shooting a half hopper each the Torpedo actually felt better to shoot. I'll try to get some more rough testing in once I get some new paint (both regs had no negative impact on shooting old paint with no breaks or chops). The torpedo was easier to dial into 280fps target as well. Neither are fine tuned/sweetspotted.

I use CCM Regs for pumps they work fine recharge great. But if I’m building something that requires a fast recharge rate I use other brand regs may favorite is AKA. I would use the Torpedo on your build.

Is the CCM really that lackluster for use on semis?

My experience has been that they seem to work just fine even on semis. I don't have as much experience with the CCM reg on my autococker as I would like but it seemed to keep up just fine. My gripe with CCM regs is they just don't seem to have the precision of adjustment that other regs do. I tend to really chase FPS changes on my guns with CCM regs.

They work fine. I just like other regs for Semi setups. CCM makes a really nice looking reg tho.
