Trauma kit for 3D printed items

Yesterday I noticed my Apoc DualPheed was broken. The barrel ring is cracked on the “arms” so I can’t clamp it down to the barrel and the back block has a large crack down the side shaped like a U and it is “chipping out”

Unfortunately I can’t get another kit and I really want to save it. I know the retainer ring is toast due to the location of the cracks — but luckily I have another.

What do you guys use to save your 3D items? Superglue or does it damage plastic?
Or is there something out there what will stand up better to the abuse?

Superglue doesn’t damage anything. It’s never going to be as strong as it was before though, and strength was an issue from new, it sounds.

Maybe try JB weld or another epoxy. I don't know what that will do with the plastic though.

I had a similar question about how to add material to prints, and was told that a soldering iron with the same filament works. Don't know how well that would fill in a crack either.

Epoxy also won’t harm any plastic I know of. It usually isn’t as strong as CA (super) glue though unless you have the ability to add material around the break and even then you’re better off with the really hardcore stuff from 3M with actual metal particles in it. Part to part along the original crack with CA glue is the best bet unless someone has made a plastic cement that
works with whatever 3D printers use. That would be ideal, something to chemically melt the two parts back together.

Have you reached out to APOC to print another part? I hit him up like 6 months ago to make a T2 feed for me. He got back to me in a day. He's also local to me and my buddy Andrew (Tracker) sold him his printers.

He won't make the metal parts but the 3D is easy enough. I've got a bunch of barrel clamp things too, I don't know if any are the one you're looking for but if you send me some measurements I can look and see if any match.

I didn’t think he was printing at all anymore. But I have his email somewhere, I’ll give him a try.

I’ll reach out and see if I can get the back block (I actually noticed a small crack in the main block too, but there’s enough meat there for me to do a solid fix)

        Thanks!
