    Meching a Free Style?

Has anybody tried meching an ICD FreeStyle?

If so, what how did you do it? If you thought about it, but rejected it, why? Would it be "worth" it other than bragging rights or "looky what I did"?

How would a mech FreeStyle compare to factory mechs? Something makes me think it would be a gas hog. Don't spools take more gas than stacked guns?

Just an odd thought running through my head when I should be sleeping.

Unless I am very much mistaken, it can't be done. IIRC, freestyles do not have a fixed volume dump chamber, so unless you have a mechanical way to control dwell, it would be impossible to get a consistent chrono reading.

By design can't be done... So long as the bolt was open it will dump air, at least in gen 1 and he bolts.

I have thought that something like this, with an adjustable volumizer for the pulse valve, would allow for proper hammer dwell timing, without dependence on proper trigger discipline.

          Velcor will save us...

You know what could be mech-ed and very successfully?
            A Proto SLG.
I don't think there's any frame out there that could be adapted to do this easily but I'd be really tickled if someone could ever 3D-print something that does the job.

J4 owns the patent. They don't control the manufacturing and design of such components/systems.

I'm telling you - there are two companies (that I'm currently aware of) that will be utilizing this patent to mechanically actuate markers. Those companies are controlling the design/manufacturing of the components, not J4. They simply paid J4 in order to utilize the patented concept.

I'd guess one is macdev, but I don't know the other.

If I were at liberty to say, I would've already.

It shouldn't take too much effort to determine who one of them is by virtue of the bolt system it uses (a traditionally mech-unfriendly design). On that note, it works very well and is cleanly implemented.
