Barrel thread adapters

So when you are using a barrel kit, but want to use the kit on a different marker, how effective is the boring in the back when the added length of the adapter is added? I was under the impression that the bore matching is contingent on a close seal from the bolt to the ball to the barrel. That's lost with an adapter.

The Lapco adapters do add about 3/4” of beautifully honed bore before the start of the barrel that it sits in, and its a larger bore (not sure exact size but somewhere in the .689-.695 range. Under boring is more about the barrel squeezing the ball and air not escaping around it than about the bolt (in most guns) , so that will still happen for the length of the barrel back. The transition between the adapter to the back is the thing to worry about, and iI guess it has to do with the lip on the barrel, the tightness of the bore you are shooting into, and of course the brittleness of the paint. I’ve used them with mid grade paint and .684 lurker barrel on open bolt guns without any noticeable issues in the past.

In a pinch sure but I've never been a huge fan of adaptors. There are just another variable in a system that works better with less variables

I dunno if it really has a detrimental effect, though the most common barrel adapters I have used were autococker to automag, the breech part was certainly not milled as tightly as the barrel part. Eventually I got a freak kit for my mag and I honestly didn’t notice a difference between the autococker freak with an adapter and the automag one. Still the breech of the mag barrel isn’t as tight as the insert yet it gained consistency when matching compared to the stock barrel.

it would be interesting for someone to efficiency test this to see if gas escaping from the loose part of a barrel adapter is significant or if consistency is harmed but that sounds kinda expensive to test.
