Hi All

I got this from a mate who was getting rid of his Paintball stuff and was wondering if it’s complete, can be serviced and a gauge put on it. The o-ring looks a bit old but seems in tact.

AFAIK they are pretty much identical to a classic Automag valve - obviously without the on/off. However, the rest of the internals should be interchangable, and getting your hands on a rebuild kit for an Automag valve should be quite easy. By the way, I believe the regulator piston has a lower relief pressure than an actual Automag valve.

On my main Automag, the valve is mismatched, with an Air America back part, although it is a slightly newer version with lasering on the side. The valve works wonders, and has been my main shooter for more than a decade.

In any case, I'm sure I will be corrected if I am mistaken. In fact, I would like to know as well, if I'm off the mark here.

The Swede is correct, Automag parts including the main seal will work just fine.

Not all parts are compatible- the spring pack under the adjuster is much longer, and as noted the overpressure blow out is set a little lower. (How much, I don't know.)

They do NOT, unfortunately, have a gauge port. Both threaded ports are inlets, and the only outlet is the ASA nose.

Some people have drilled out the side burst disc port and made a gauge port of it, which kind of isn't recommended, but likely wouldn't be an issue. (A great many inline regs never came with a burst disc, but the UniReg came from the era of CO2, as well as a limited knowledge of anti-siphon tubes and the like. The burst disc was to help protect against a blurp of liquid getting through the reg and causing a pressure spike.)

So it’ll be ok on air? Excuse my ignorance but when I had my first one, it was on CO2.. I also have an apocalypse air bottle that is WAY out of date but I should be able to replace the bottle itself with an aluminium one?

It'll be fine on HPA. The reg seal needs replacing- just for age, not to make it work on air- but with a little attention, it'll work just fine. Keep in mind, though, they weren't necessarily the best regs ever made. They're not bad, and work great on a pump or mech semi, but try and push 'em too hard with a high-ROF, low-pressure electro and they'll choke. They tend to prefer an output around 500-600 psi

On the Apocalypse, yes. Assuming the reg itself is in good shape, and you can find a bare 4500 bottle- which I understand is getting to be kind of an issue these days- swap that puppy on there and go brag that just your tank is heavier than the other guy's whole gun.

I’ll be putting it on my Bob Long Autococker so it should be good on that.

I can get a 48ci Paintball Assassin or a 62ci GladiatAir 3000 psi bottles for $79 and $89 AUD respectively. I think the place that sells them sell a repair kit for the Apocalypse so they should be able to service it beforehand

If putting a 3K tank on an Apocalypse, be sure to swap the burst discs as well.
