Anyone ever seen anodizing like this?

I bought this cocker from a local army navy store for $50 in 2003 because it needed a full rebuild and they only knew Tippmanns and Spyders and didn't know what to do with it. I remember being blown away by the anodizing, the gold in it would actually reflect almost like a mirror. Of course with the rise of electros I sold it on ebay and bought a Omen (enough said).

I have always had my eye out for any gun with similar anodizing, but I have never seen anything like it. I now have some projects I am planning on sending out for milling and need to get anodized. I would love to find someone who could recreate something like this. Anyone know of a company that could do this?

"Lava" anodizing from PK Selective. No one knows how they did it, so the technique is lost to the ether. It is most famously on the KAPP Lava autocockers.

Wow, what a bummer. I have some really nice anodized things, but this is still my favorite I have owned. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will figure it out. Thanks for the info!

Kapp did a bunch in that style.... I have one, as well as a Boston Paintball left feed in the same pattern.

Supposedly the method to do it involves oil based dyes that were thicker then normal.

Kick Ass Paintball Products (KAPP) Lava Ano is awesome! They made a blue and a green version as well. Very unique especially for back in the 1990’s. I bet if you asked some of the top Anodize guys they could replicate it today. KAPP helped push a lot of Autococker technology and innovation back in the day.

I had one in black that came with the used Piranha bottom line I bought as a kid. Never found out who made them or what they were called. I seem to remember they were called "multimetal" or something.
