    Budget Mask

Need to pick up a mask to play at the local field. Getting back into paintball after many years out of the sport. My last mask was a Dye i3 when they first came out, but sold it with my guns when I exited the sport.

Was looKing at the V-Force Grillz, seem to be well liked, and at a decent price. Dont want to go super cheapo, but don't wanna spend $200+ on a mask.

I see ANS Gear has a bunch on sale for sub-$100, which is where I'd like to be price-wise.

Any other masks to look at?

    Thanks!

Ebay's got a few dual panes you could probably snag for sub $100. I saw a Helix for sale on their and some e-vents. Proflex if you like the style, but they ain't for me.

A used pair of Profilers in decent condition can be had for $20-30 all day, sometimes with thermal lenses. Definitely the most underrated mask in paintball. JT masks are nice if you can get them for a decent price. I have a small face and my favorite mask that I've ever worn is the Axis Pro. Helixes are good if you have a larger head, but I would change out the stock rental grade foam for JT style.

          Second the Profiler.

I had always been a JT guy, but I bought a Profiler for my girlfriend to use and I end up using it almost every time play.

I still like my Spectras, but the Profiler is super underrated.

Replacement parts are still easy to get too. You can even buy dual pane lenses for profilers

A mask isn't something you should skimp on. If the $50 mask fits you best, buy it. If the $200 mask fits you best, buy it. Comfort and safety are the priorities here and you should spend however much is required to get both.

That said, there are good options for under $100. JT, Empire and V-Force offer decent masks in that price range. I personally use an older JT Proshield. The current iteration of the Proshield can be had for ~50-60 bucks. E-Flexes are decent but you'll have to trim the nose foam (pinches the nose shut).

I don't suggest buying used, as I don't trust used lenses. And if you go the JT route, JT lenses are as expensive as a new Proshield anyway. If you don't trust used lenses & you're gonna buy a new lens anyway you may as well buy a brand new mask.

I wouldnt want a "used" mask unless it was one of those cases where the person bought it, and never used it (essentially new but not from a store).

Not sure id trust a used lense, seeing as that'd all thats between my eyes and the incoming paintballs.

I third the profiler. I like the look of the grillz, but I absolutely don't like the idea of my lower cheeks and forehead completely exposed. This is also why I don't like most newer mask options.

I wore a profiler for a solid decade. Great affordable masks. First time I tried a Grill I hated it, but now I regularly wear one. Used to wear an E-Vents as well. All comfortable masks. Buying a used mask is fine, just get a new lens and make sure the foam is okay, My current masks I bought for $20 and it a new lens and foam in and it’s like brand new. I think I have 12-15 masks at the moment. Always like to grab a few nice masks to lend out but it’s apparently gotten a little out of hand. I prefer masks with quick change lenses as well.

I really like the Grillz, but I need a vizor. If you can get a grillz vizor they are a great mask and not too pricey.

I'm on the Profiler train as my favorite GOOD affordable mask. As for the Grillz, like the look better but the field of vision is not nearly as good. And the visors between the two are interchangeable, so that's no issue. Wouldn't imagine a new Grillz wouldn't come with a visor.

I think some of the special edition stuff may not have a visor.

Proflex for $84 shipped is my vote.

So it looks like the profiler is not very common anymore, new, compared to the grill.

However, there is a pretty sweet white and black Profiler on eBay for $80 shipped. I may jump on that, though a little hesitant to buy a mask without trying them on first.

Though, I can just return it if i dont like the fit. Or throw it on the BST here and probably get most of my money back.

It all depends on head size too. I'm just not a fan of the JT masks, but they fit pretty big noggins like mine, with glasses okay. I bought a set of E-flex's off of a dude on here and I can easily fit my glasses in them comfortably. I would suggest a set of I4's if you can find them if you have a smaller noggin. I found a set for a steal on craigslist and I had to get it, ended up being perfect for the gf.

These are thermal and really damn good for the money. https://www.ebay.com/itm/26434747602...temCondition=3 I bought like 4 of em.

You can't really get spare lenses and stuff but at that price, a spare mask makes enough sense compared to 30 dollar JT spectra lenses or whatever.

Size wise these are kind of between the JT Elite (horse blinders tunnel vision) and the spectra (very wide) they fit real nice and are light weight. Foam isn't luxury foam or anything but again who cares. I really loved the closed cell rental specific foam that vforce offered on the rental ARMORS and SHIELDS for a while.

But my top pick for someone who is gunna be playing for a while would be https://www.paintballwizard.com/coll...ts/proflex_blk

Which is nuts because I bought this same mask (same generation and everything) for 69.99 in Jun 2020 so prices are?? stupid??

But they're still my favorite. The scott voltage is just really awesome for the money.

I'm curious about these older gen scott masks advertised now for airsoft. The picture doesn't show a thermal lens but they say that they have a thermal lens. This website isn't one I know or trust but it would be great if you could get a thermal scott for 25 bucks https://www.wolfslaves.com/scott-ful...ggle-mask.html

The one I linked above there is the same lens as the ebay link. The ebay link though I know for sure is solid as I've bought from that seller a few times.

This mask. $59 then get the Bunkerking HD lens for them. It will never fog they fit awesome are durable and have a great profile. All in all it will cost you about $120 however you will have 90% of what makes the BK masks $200+ masks. The HD lenses are 2nd to none. It’s so easy to see the paint in the air, and are optically as clear as it gets. You can even get fades that are super nice in the woods. Like when you are in and out of shade. I run the HD mirror in my VIO and love it for all conditions the Ascend is the same thing with hard ears instead of separate piece soft ears. It’s a great mask that never fogs. Takes the best lenses on the market, and are super durable. This is what I would buy but you really got to try a mask on see what fits the best. Most important thing for me is the lens. Virtue and Dye make the best lenses I think. But Dye masks are expensive and not durable. They just don’t last. I’m super happy with my Virtue mask it’s my go to when I want performance and clarity.

Also looks like you can add a thermal lens to the $59 package for an extra $25. So for $85ish you can get that mask with a dual pain standard clear lens if you didn’t want to spring for the HD one.
