Is this a Dye 14/15 lense for $20?

Hey, I order stuff off Ali Express all the time. I never once typed in "paintball" until today...These came up. I have a Dye i5 mask and I hate the tinted lenses they scratch super easy and for $55 for new lenses at the field I think they should hold up much better. After wearing them once woods balling they were covered in scratches. I wrote Dye and told them and provided pictures, I said I expected better for a $220 pair of goggles (My Flex 8 goggles have lasted me well over a decade and are in better shape than my I5s), DYE just never got back to me at all. I feel I got ripped off and don't want to spend more money on them or DYE at this point.

These look like replacement lenses for my mask. Is there any way to know, what do you guys think? For $20 I am willing to test them out.

I have always said if there is one thing I am willing to cheap out on, it is eye protection! I know I know, don't skimp on eye protection, but I might order these just to test them out, I'll shoot them with a ton of pain and if they hold up I'll buy some to use.

Those are the China knock off I4 there are Destruction videos on YouTube. They are not safe for paintball play. Not sure if they fit but I would not use those ever. It’s not safe.

Sell the I5 and snag a Vio or Ascend it’s a very similar mask but more durable design the lenses rock. I’m surprised you had so much trouble with the Dye lenses tho I always thought they made the best lens. But like all dye products Just expensive.

Vio is my go to performance mask. I love my Flex when the weather is nice and I’m just messing around in the woods. But when I need clarity, tight profile, and performance I grab my VIO. I have an I4 and I5 that have always worked well but they don’t seem to be very durable. I kept the I4 for when my son is ready to play it’s a tiny mask so it fits kids really well I had to replace the ears on it. The I5 I had issues the the ratchet strap it’s been replaced one time already and that nice super soft foam dose not hold up well but feels like a pillow on your face. Next time I’m taking that ratchet strap off it’s expensive and stupid.

VIO or Ascend with a HD lens is my favorite setup.

I have written Ebay and Amazon about these masks and how dangerous they are. Yet they are still available. I’m surprised more people don’t get hurt using them. I watch for these and other “air soft masks” whenever I play. I would hate to see someone go blind because of a bad product.

I wish there was a way to get them off the market before they hurt more people. The only good thing is they are fairly easy to recognize if you are paying attention.

I've opened up live chats with Amazon reps to point out dangerously inadequate junk getting marketed as paintball masks. It doesn't even make a dent in the volume of garbage out there. eBay at least has a "Report Item" link on each listing, but Amazon has no such feature.

I've been pestering my local field to add something to the safety briefing about having self-equipped players show their masks to staff before playing. Something to the effect of "If your mask wasn't made by JT, Vforce, Empire, Dye, Valken, Bunker Kings, [etc] come show it to us now." The staff tried to keep an eye out for unsafe masks, but they're usually too preoccupied with checking barrel covers as players enter and exit the field, and some days we might have 100+ players at once.

Yup just echoing what others have already said, those masks are not safe. Your eyeballs are with more than $20

They only way you can tell if a dye lens is real is to remove it from mask and look for the logos near the lock tabs. Should be a CE logo on one, DYE logo on other.

The lenses SHOULD say ASTM certified or something right on the front of them but don't. All this does is invite the counterfeiters in. If it were a visible certification it could easily be policed. But right now there is nothing stopping anyone from selling these or using them on any field.

Not that counterfeiters would have any qualms about forging ASTM certification marks. Might make it easier to yank them from the market, though.

The Dye i4 and its lenses are well known targets of counterfeiting. Airsoft fields see tons of that crap. I wouldn't trust my eyes to anything off of AliExpress.

Yeah seriously, I don't know why people try to save money when their personal protection is involved.

I don't go to the hardware store for my rock climbing rope because they have $20 ropes

I spend that $300 on the one that will save my life
