I am designing a ground up nelson valve gun and I'm curious what changes in the valve body have on nelson efficiency when using co2. I have notice that the valve chamber on a phantom is very narrow and long when compared to other nelsons. The gun receiver will need to be short so I cant replicate the phantom valve, I am going to have to go shorter with a bigger diameter, but try to match the same volume. I am mechanically inclined but sometimes have a hard time wrapping my head around the physics of air... Do you want a valve with a larger volume or smaller for increased efficiency?

if liquid is going to be in the valve, it doesn't matter. If gas, give it whatever volume you can. No clue what the minimum is, but for reference it'll be at least 10x larger than the volume of liquid necessary - if just going by energetic factors. The most efficient setup - theoretically - would only use liquid CO2, never allow more to escape than necessary, and have a pressure supply that shrinks in internal volume as the liquid is being consumed. Probably not very helpful info, that....
It's a neslon, though. Hack 'n slash away. Don't worry about it.Paintball Selection and Storage - How to make your niche paintball part idea.

One of many things RTR did right.
Make the ID the same the whole way back, thread the end for a cap and make inserts to adjust the volume to your liking.Originally posted by MAr "... Nish deleted it..."
