    MCS dmags/helix

Does anyone here have any experience using first strikes with the dmag/helix mags?
    How we’ll do they work?

Short answer - Not as good at as Dye mags. Hard to tell if it was the mag or the gun, but the 468 bolt action my buddy had would consistently flip rounds and have issues feeding. The nips on the FSR catch on the edge of the loading door.

They feel extremely cheap and flimsy IMO. But since you have to use dmags on MCS guns and not Dye mags, you take what you can get.

you're gonna need to sand the nipple off the FSR so it doesn't catch and flip ...

PS: CCM mags ae the only mag that are 100% reliable .........

I use Helix maga for round ball and dmags for fs. Only so I don't have to mess with springing, and I know which are which by looking at them. So far, I haven't had any feed issues. But I've only used them a few times. I hear they can be finicky in Helix mags on warm and humid days, but I wouldn't know. All has been pleasant so far.

I forgot to mention that MCS recommends the Tacamo bolt for First Strike. The nose is tapered, like on a Cure bolt, and is supposed to eliminate flipping. I use one, but have never run the marker without it. It's only $15, so I just bought it for the hell of it. *This is only if you're using Tippmann/BT guns*

I find the Helix mags feed a bit more reliably and they don't feel as cheap as Dmags. I have color-coordinated Helix for FSR/Roundball. The Dmags feed okay, they just feel super chintzy.

Color coordinated is a good idea. But at $10 a pop, I find dmags hard to beat.

Did you by chance have gen 1 dmags? Those were made out of a softer or thinner plastic. I only ask because mine are gen 2 and feel nice and sturdy, just like my Helix mags. I have no experience with gen 1's, but I've heard they had some issues.

Brokeass_baller I inherited a bunch of Dmags from an MCS lot that I purchased. No idea what gen they are, but they do feel flimsy. Like I said they feed fine, I just don't care for the weight/feel. I would imagine they are gen 1. Price was never a big issue for me, I shoot limited paint and usually only go out with 3-4 mags tops so the extra coin for the Helixes didn't bother me too much.

Me and a couple buddies have the helix mags and haven't had any problems at all with the mags themselves. The flipping can be a couple of things depending on the kit. First is a power tube that's a little too long, second is the bolt (as a few people mentioned), third is that the plate for releasing the spring and opening the shutter can sit a little too high so it needs a piece or two of electrical tape under it. All relatively quick and easy fixes. No need to sand the FS.

I used the Helix and Dmags with my Blizzard and they worked OK. I preferred the easy DMags, as far as simply open the bottom and change the springs. Never tried FS with the Helix, just roundball. The DMag fed FSR ok. My blizzard has all the FSR goodies so no issue with flipping. I must say that the Dye Mags with my MG are soooooo much better made and reliable. Plus the marker is night and day 100% better.
