    Short Barrel Options

Looking for a short barrel for my pump, which is AC threaded. Looking for one in the 6-10 range, ideally 6-8 inches.

Doesn't look like there isn't much in terms of new barrels.

Lapco offers the "Bigshot" in 8" and 10", which would work.

Is it possible to cut down an old barrel as long as its cut cleanly? Or is that not really a good idea?

    Thanks

I run a freak back with a Doc’s Flashpoint tip. Keeps me right at the 6” mark

Dye UL with the snub tip it’s pretty short. Even shorter if you use it on a master Sconi freak back.

I've looked for a short UL, but those seem to be pretty hard to come by unfortunately.

There is a 10" boomstick on ebay right now, but its for a Shocker SFT unfortunately. I did ask if it was a 2 piece, but the seller said it was a glued barrel, so don't think I can buy it and just use the tip.

Check the Mag fed groups. They seem to love the short boomy tips for the Dye Dam. That’s ware I found mine. They usually run about $45-$65 just for the tip. But I think the Dye UL are one of the best performing barrels. I put them on everything. You will lose some efficiency with a shorter barrel they are a lil louder but nothing crazy noticeable. It’s really just the difference of adding pressure getting the ball up to speed in a shorter tube. With a Master Sconi back it’s about a 1/2” shorter then a standard UL back but you said you don’t want to use freak inserts. So you could go with a standard UL back in your preferred size. Or one of the CF ones if your feeling fancy. Doc’s Flashpoint tip is probably one the shortest options. Doc has a one piece 9” but again uses freak inserts.

Barrels don't get much lighter and more compact than this. The Tanto is an all-new ultra light, ultra compact one-piece barrel that takes any common Smart-Parts/GOG/SP Freak insert. The Tanto is just under 9 long, comes in WGP/Autococker thread, and weighs only 65 grams. The Freak insert slides in

Thanks for the options. I've been trying to avoid the Freak systems, as I have an Ifit kit I bought, and was hoping for something like an inexpensive CP short barrel to pair with it.

looks like 10" to me. Found a bunch for the old Angel markers, but none for AC. That would be perfect for what I need / want.

Ramrod. Just remove the rods. They do nothing anyway. /s

Yes, you can cut down old barrels. Make sure it's a solid barrel construction - some older models are glued together.

You can ask Deadlywind to make a custom length.

I just bought this A5 barrel off the-bay, says its a 5-1/2" barrel. Now I can pair it with an AC to A5 Ifit adapter, use all my inserts, and should give me about a 7-1/2" barrel

Hard to beat for about $20 shipped. Its a 10 in.

              Seems like a fine barrel.

With the Short Dye tip and Standard UL it measures 8 - 5/8th inch.

With the Master Sconi back for standard 5” freaks it’s only 8” long

I put Dye UL on everything. I got all kinds of tips for them to (whoosh,Parabolic, and various length tips). My favorite are the CF covered Stainless bore backs, I have a full set of them. Even have a bunch of Phantom threaded ones for my Nelson’s. I was never a fan of Dye products but they make one of the best barrels on the market still to this day IMO.

How about these 3D printed "barrels" from PaintballDNA that are basically just sleeves for Freak inserts?

Deadlywind just order the length you need and it’s the best barrel anyways.

ten inches is a good short length.

I used to be 12 inch or die guy but depending on gun I like 14s now too, like everyone else
