Air America Regs

I have a handful of air America regs, and only got one that will regulate properly. The rest pass the tank reg pressure. I have tried all pin and reg seat combinations with AA pins, AGD pins, different reg seats, none seem to work. Any advice? is anyone making replacement pins and reg seats?

Immortal air sells the replacement pins and seals. Not cheap though.
I bought some, I’ve also tried a bunch of combinations with varying success.

I always thought air america regs were amazing from what the internet says. Posting to learn a thing when the experts arrive. As I have one I just got my hands on that Ive never used.

I have three Armageddon regs I currently use. All have new reg seats and pins from Immortal Air, all work fine as they should. I have used buna oring replacement kits with success, but the lifespan of those seems to be much less than the proper spec polyurethane ones. I've rebuilt two of them using the proper poly ones without any problems so far. I would not expect original reg seats or orings to work correctly, as they are now 20+ years old.

The reg halves are designed to cut into the reg seat on initial assembly. So you want to be sure that it's absolutely spotless inside and screw the halves together TIGHT. Once you screw the halves together you shouldn't unscrew them unless you plan to install another reg seat afterward. I've had at least 2 classic automag valves that were like this. I've also had mags were this wasn't an issue at all though. Just something to keep in mind.

This is true with the Apocalypse reg, the two halves of the reg provided the compression of the reg seat and weren't supposed to be separated unless replacing that reg seat.

The Armageddon reg was a little better design because you could separated the reg halves anytime without effecting the reg seat seal. The compression on that seal is provided by a seat seal retainer that screws down tight against the seal and stays that way. With this design, the front half of the Armageddon reg functions much like a standard asa, except you can adjust output pressure as well.
