What to do when paint shows up w/ broken balls

I know ordering paint online can be risky and I haven't had issues in the past. But got a case that has breaks in all 4 bags...

What's the method for salvaging the remaining good balls?

Is your paint oily or not shooting straight? Don't suffer through it! Watch this video and make your paintballs shoot straighter. In this long overdue Pro Tip...

I’ve done this a couple times…seemed like it worked decent, i have to buy field paint almost everywhere I go, so that method is for me to take paint home and shoot it in the back yard

Get a shallow cardboard box and line it with paper towel, rags, t-shirts etc. Dump the paint in and roll it around. Towel off each individual ball and put it in a zip lock bag. Scold yourself for ordering paint in the mail.

The plus side is they are sending a replacement which I opted for over a refund. And if that also comes broken then I'll just get store credit.

Will do my best to clean these up and have some spare ballz on hand.

Roll it around in an old towel a half a bag at a time, then pick them out one at a time to get the bits of shell off. What ever remains just store in ziplocks.

            This is what I do.

The towel trick works great. I always bring a beach towel to the field and if I get a pod shot that breaks paint in a pod I just dump it onto the towel, roll the balls around, and pick out any broken balls or shell. The paint is as good as new afterwards.

Usually a towel and paper towels. Wash the towel off in a five gallon bucket when done.

              Cardboard trick looks neat.

My previous technique for cleaning up broken paint or excessive mold release (oily residue that you find in the bottom of bags sometimes) is the paper towel technique.
I find taking one towel and then putting paint on it and putting another towel over top and gently rubbing around works pretty good.
You also find the broken paint pretty easily after doing this.
No matter what you do, broken paint just plain sucks and makes for a frustrating day.

Ordered a Squirrel Sack, that’s really cool.

The ultimate way to deal with this is get a compact clothes dryer, remove the drums paddles, disconnect the heater element place 2-3 mini sanitary napkins stuck to the inside of the drum. Now just run the "dryer" to tumble and dry the paintballs. If you have slightly dimpled or out of round paint you can add a couple of damp paper towels just thrown in with some heat turned on. When I still had mine I jumped out most of the heater element instead of disconnecting it so I could add a little heat to help soften up the shell while tumbling. One bag at the time is best but you can do 1/2 case at a time if needed. At one point we kept the "dryer" in SCRK's trailer for when we travelled.

I forgot, old cotton pillow cases work best.

Easy, just dump it into a dry, clean cardboard box such as the one it arrived in and take a small towel and gently roll the paint around with it, applying very light pressure. The cardboard will absorb the broken paint. The trick to it is to keep the paint in the box only one ball deep, so depending on the size of the shipping box you may or may not be able to clean an entire bag's worth at a time.

I got a fair amount of practice with this when I had the ANS subscription. After a couple of perfect months with no breaks, I ended up with at least two breaks per the 8 bags I received each month. I think the last month before I canceled half the bags had some broken paint. That's just the nature of shipping tourney grade across the country.

Now, if you're getting breaks with field grade/level 1 paint, the shipper is doing something abusive to the package.
