Spyder front body plug - What fits?

Hi, I have a new to me green Spyder Victor II, that i'm going do something interesting with!

I want to tune it to run on liquid co2 . Why , you ask!? Because giant co2 clouds , my friend, that's why!

My first step is to reduce the volume in front of the valve. I've removed the volumizer , but now I need a compatible plug to seal the front of the body up.

Do you guys know where I can find a replacement plug to fix? I think I have seen these threaded front plugs on first gen spyders?

If any of you guys have a spare plug I could buy for this project, that would be great!

Here is a pic with volumizer removed, and where the threaded plug will go:

    let me know, thanks!

The original spyders (non compact style) could be had without an LPC. They just had a threaded plug. Someone may have one they may let go. You could also fill the LPC with epoxy, nylon spacers, anything else large but light weight... Or you may be able to thread it for a plug internally. But im not sure if there is enough meat to thread.

I dunno if you want a foregrip, but if not I think these plugs came in the sonix? They go right in place of the front block. Could be drilled for a fitting or maybe just drill/tap the body. That's my plan for this one.

The original Spyders (full body) had a cap with a straight blade screwdriver slot that would be perfect for this application. The threads are the same as any Spyder LPC.

I'm sure I can round up one for you if you'd like.

The old g2 piranhas had a plug that looked like a lpc but were actually solid aluminum and since they’re Spyder clones everything fits just fine. You might find one on eBay or something. They’re just as easy to remove as a lpc but without the volume.

Old thread on PBNation says M19x1.5
I'm not seeing any cheap plugs of that type on eBay.

I remember seeing a red Spyder Esprit a few years ago. No plug or volumizer. Just a 1-piece front block, flat on the front. Not sure if it was specific to those models.

scottieb is hooking me up with the front plug I need, but finding one of these guns to swap the front block with, could have been option 2. The good thing with the part scottie is sending, is my front asa block gets to stay matchy matchy green......

Yes, the Espirits had front blocks with no spot for an LPC. The Imagines had the LPC in the front block.

the elite was the same IIRC.

why do you want to REDUCE the volume there though? just wondering...

He’s setting up for liquid co2 so volume allows for expansion which is a big no no.

On Co2 those "lpc" chambers were arguable regarding actual performance. Even today at 800 psi normal operation they don't really do anything. There is plenty of volume in the body in front of the valve for the bps these shoot

i think i missed the liquid vs gas co2 part.
i always though liquid co2 in the marker was a big no-no...

So I finally got around to working on my Liquid Spyder project, inspired by some parts that have either come in, or on the way......

Here is my Spyder Victor II roughly how I received it, save for the Front Plug that ScottieB sent me and some Dye stickies I threw on there. The gun came with a 16" Taso Eliminator, and the mech frame off a spyder xTra, and everything else looks to be stock.

I've started installing some of the upgrades that came in, but the key piece I need for my liquid co2 puzzle has been stuck in Customs in Vancouver for over a week.....my damn Spyder Spring kits I ordered from Ansgear.......!

Anyhow, i'll take some pics tomorrow with the new parts, and once I get my springs and get my Siphon tank filled up, I can finally tune this for some liquid action!

Got my new parts installed, and took a couple more pics .....

                        Added the following upgrades:

                        - Spyder ESP electronic frame
                        - Warrior ESP adjustable trigger
                        - Shocktech clamping feedneck
                        - Shocktech Supafly spyder short bolt
                        - 14" Lapco Big Shot barrel

Now I just need those Spring Kits (main, valve) to be released by customs, and shipped !

Then the plan is still to try to tune for Liquid by putting in the heaviest valve spring (to reduce time it is open, and limit the amount of liquid that can flash into gaseous co2), and I will start with the weakest main spring in the kit, and increase spring weights from there......we'll see !
