    Single hopper, double barrel

    Hi MCB,

My mind is going wired for a project ... Slightly more so than usual ... So, Asking for ... A friend ... ๐Ÿ˜‰
Has anyone attempted to make a single hopper work on a double barrel?

    pictures would be greatly appreciated.
    โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹
    Thanks,
    X

I designed something, but never made it. It probably wouldnโ€™t be able to work as an electro, but for mech it might have. Not sure where the CAD files are these days...

Interested in your concept ... this is for a pump.
I'm thinking about a single reservoir with gravity feed or make one with revy guts ...

Are you planning on modifying the hopper at all?

Like wider for a doublestack feedneck? Or flared like a Y-pipe to facilitate the single file stack branching to separate chambers? Or all of the above, like the bellbottom parachute pants (JNCO style hopper)?
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

KPCS did it with the Peacemaker Phantoms.

Using two revy and 3d print a center shell design could work
Ideally with a W shape at the bottom that split each side and give a proper ball stack above each tube

Here is the screenshot of the feed discussion that I had saved from the desertT1 โ€œDouble barrel feed options....โ€ thread. I tried to re-find a copy of the thread on Wayback Machine, but I donโ€™t know how to work the search properly. Maybe someone else can try to resurrect it.

I am also interested in pursuing a (small) single hopper solution for my double barrel Phoenix Phantom(s)....for science, and would love to collaborate. I have every feed option, but none of the Hopper fed options appeal to me...AT ALL.

I canโ€™t find the pictures, but I got playing with the idea of swapping the left and right Stock Class feed bodies, so the feed hole is tilted in towards the center, and it looks like it could work. It could result in an absolute minimum size feedneck, with the majority of the sight picture being similar to that of a normal center feed hopper setup.
At that angle, There is no space for each body to have a ball positioned above the bolt at the same time for both to drop at once when pumped, so one would be sitting on the bolt, and the other would be above it in the stack. I donโ€™t think a static divider could be counted on to successfully have the second ball choose the correct path consistently.
I DO think a moving divider actuated by the pump stroke could very well work though!
There is enough space between the barrels that a 3d printed link could connect the pump handle or rod to a rod above the centerline of the barrels to actuate the feedneck.
That is the way I planned to tackle it...โ€eventuallyโ€, so if I can help/participate in any way, it will help me move along also.

My plan is to make a double barrel Sheridan with spring feed and an option for hopper (one).
im thinking of doing a feed like you have on the right (both feedneck sticking straight up.

On the way home I had the thought of taking 2 vl200 and cutting some off the side on the bandsaw and glueing them together ... Or taking a revy and printing a "spacer" to connect the 2 shells ... ๐Ÿค”
i need to start modeling something ...

I would love to cooperate on something ... For science ๐Ÿ˜…
What software are you using? I exclusively use solidworks (2019). I also have a 3D printer so I can make prototype and some working models too.

The last idea I had was to take a pod and print an inside rank and adapter to mount on top ... But I like the 2 above best.

PS: I love those KPCS phantoms ... ๐Ÿคค ... If I ever get a phantom again it would be one of those ...

Are we missing a prime opportunity to legitimately use a Q-Loader? Probably not, but those things are neat.

Without some high-speed ratcheting system like a FN P90, or Evil Omen, to alternate the feednecks/direct balls to alternating chambers... I think that any sort of force feed or springfeed would end up picking one direction as the path of least resistance, and all the balls would follow it to the same chamber. I could be wrong, obviously. Maybe tension on the stack would cause it to "collapse" down the other path to constantly feed both chambers. I don't know.

It definitely seems that a single stock class feed along the barrel, with a simple "Y" to each chamber would work just fine. Might need a little shake, but I am guessing just pointing it skyward to pump it would suffice.

Why not put a divider in a hopper with two feednecks/spouts? More of a partial divider, like 1/4 height of the interior... just enough to direct the reservoir in two directions. One lid for easy loading.
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

I have considered modifying a single hopper to use with the dual upright feed bodies...but ultimately the resulting width of double wide feednecks is a deal breaker for me personally, although it would still be vastly better than the standard angled out feeds/elbow/loaders that stick out like Moose antlers to be shot, catch on branches, snap off on a bad fall, etc. So if you were to go that route...
I do think that a single paddle/servo of an agitating hopper should be able to handle two โ€œholesโ€ on a single loader. For pump use, I donโ€™t even think any special compartment separation or special internal ramps would be necessary. A custom spacer in the middle of the two shell halves could certainly do the trick, but I think a complete 3D printed two outlet shell with centered Revy internals (ala PB DNAโ€™s Jolo) would be best.

As far as 3D software I use...well, I am more of a thinker than doer. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Besides toying with Tinkercad and Sketchup, once or twice, I am a complete novice.
I have installed Fusion 350 or trial versions of solidworks at different points over the last few years, but never really had the time to follow through with learning.
I have collaborated with several people on designs where they brought the skills and I helped with the conceptual stuff, testing, funding prototypes, etc to success. So I look forward to brainstorming with you. I will PM.

I love KPCS Phantoms also...they are the gold standard. unfortunately (not the right word), mine are GearHeadz Phoenix Phantom Conversion Kits. They are still very good when set up properly, and a blast to use (and are a conversation starter), just not a purpose built complete marker like Kenโ€™s handiwork.
The upside is you can switch from standard single Phantom to double barrel Phantom quite easily (or even have different complete โ€œtopโ€ modules like I have to switch to different double barrel feed types on the fly). If you ever want to scratch that itch...I know a guy๐Ÿ˜‰

If it works for the "double wild feed-neck" it would also work for "left/right". the principle will be similar, mounting will be different.
as a first attempt, i am more and more leaning toward a custom spacer for a revy, I have a 9V version with no eyes (run continuously).
A custom shell would be great, could get a better profile, but im not sure i quite have teh modeling skill yet ...

I didnt knew those kits, looking into them a bit it looks like they also have the dual stage trigger?
This is what appeals to me about the double barrel phantom platform. Definitely interested in putting my hands on one.

When I made my over-under Trracer, also made a hopper adapter. It worked fine. I had carefully measured the ball stacks and it fed well without jams, but it was also very tall and I preferred running 10rd tubes with it in the end.

Any advice on what to measure? I assume make sure the y is in between the ball in the stack?

im also thinking about doing over/under haven't decided yet ... KPCS made one with a single feed, I think. The ball went through the first breach to the second ... I don't see it working on a single valve system (Sheridan in my case).

Something like that, it's been a long time... When the bottom stack is "full" to the Y, there should still be room for balls to tip into the other channel. I might've been overthinking it, but I never had a jam either.

But tubes were just cooler, and lightened up a very bulky, forward heavy package.
