JT Flex 8 Head Shield mask, how to disassemble?

Hey, i picked up a camo flex 8 with full head shield. I want to remove the head shield but it appears to be riveted to points in the goggle frame ? Is it actually riveted , or are those fasteners that thread together ? If they do thread, I cannot get a grip on them with any of my pliers sets.

If they're threaded, one side will have proper screw heads. But if they're riveted like the Spectra chin straps, they're not meant to come off. Time to cut the rivet heads!

Hold up... I own a Flex 8... its absolutely possible to remove the visor from the mask without cutting or even messing with the rivets.

The visor has these pronged hooks that lock into the mask. Simple separately the bottom of the visor from the body of the mask. repeat for the top as well. Once that's out you'll notice the head band still threaded through the mask, simply unwrap the band out of your mask.

Thanks, the visor came off no problems.

How about the head shield piece? Does that come off too?

You need to drill out the pop rivet. It will be permanently removed if you do. Not a big deal lots of them were sold that way. Take your time don’t let the rivet spin or it will get hot and cause damage to the pieces.

This is accurate. Grasp the wider part of the rivets with some pliars while you drill, and maybe give it a squirt or two of water halfway through; you don't want to melt the plastic.

Afterwards all the destroyed rivets can be replaced with aluminum post binders from ACE or whatever you local hardware store is

Used a gold paint pen, pretty easy.

Use top cutting pliers, and/or a dremel!

Thanks guys, i ended up just leaving rivets and cutting away the rubber headshield with a box cutter knife. Looks a bit janky, but thats good enough for me
