    Reconditioning mask plastic?

I just got a JT Spectra and the hard plastic is aged of course. I'd like to bring it back to as dark of a black as possible before I potentially commit to a hydrodip.
What can I use to bring life back into this mask? Or is this a bad idea?

IF it is just dulling and minor scratches to the plastic (not lenses please use new lenses) then you can use Magic Erasers to bring some luster back and buff out minor scratches. Our Refurbishment operation has been using the for years on most (non-painted) plastic parts with good results.

If the plastic has lost its color (uv degradation) or got brittle then it is time to let them go.

Depending on the age of things this mask can very well be passed its prime, I had a pair of late era actual JT proflexes in black. That I kept very clean and in a very temperature controlled part of the house that literally crumbled one day at the field.

Maguires fender restore super black. A bunch of different manufacturers make it, all pretty cheap at the auto store. Made 30 year old 4 wheeler parts look new, and i used the rest on my cars. Vaseline and a hair dryer works too. Check it out good though, surface cracks/ stress fractures and i wouldnt rely on it.

Black shoe polish will make it look brand new. Wipe it on buff it off.

I wipe cloudy plastic with olive oil on a lint free cloth and wipe off the excess with another lint free cloth.

To be clear, it's just the lowers and ears that I'm looking to treat. Lens is new and frame has life in it I think.

            Mask for reference:

Yup Black shoe polish will have that thing looking brand new. Wipe it on buff it off. That’s just old paint that gets embedded in the plastic. Shoe polish will cover small scratches and last a long time cuz it’s a wax. Pig spit and Tire shine will make it greasy.

Yeah, Kiwi black shoe polish will take care of that whitish lustre. I've used it on my old Spectras and on a Proto Switch I got from Goodwill. Works wonders. Just have a separate clean, lint free cloth to buff it after application, and be prepared to buff until it no longer leaves visible residue on the cloth.

You can also gloss that right up with a heat gun. Ask someone that was in the military before 2006 for a good polish tutorial.
