90 angel frame: how do they feel?

I'm looking at getting an electro frame for a project and I found an angel 90 frame on the bay that might work ...

How do they feel compare to "regular" frame angle?

Also, how easy/expensive is it to find grip panels for them?

I prefer them to a regular 45 frame. Grips can be had for $20-30 last I knew.

Lots of good angel grips to be had. They were massively popular in the early 2000s and that was the biggest time for the sport (in my mind) and as a result a ton of grips are around. Not as many as there were ten years ago but definitely lots.

they feel great. It was just another thing about some angels that made them “woah”

I like the angle but not the geometry of the frame itself. They’re big, fat, and really blocky. That might just be due to the grips, which are usually thin and flat. I’ve never been a fan of that.

Agreed. They feel a bit too much like the OTB frames of yore.

90 degree Angel frame feel amazing. First the frame is large enough to where you get two good hand positions, on lower that makes it just like a single trigger frame, if you have the stock IR3 cutlass with the long trigger tip, I frequently forget that it even has a double trigger.

The second more traditional hand position is quite comfortable, but it depends on the curve of the grip for me to feel comfortable on it so the fully flat grips just don’t feel that great. If you keep your marker very close to you, then you will love this.

if however you like a “long” setup with a big tank and your arms outstretched you will find the angle to be uncomrtable versus the LCD style 45 frames

be aware the IR3 and A4 frames do feel pretty different to me. Right now I have two shockers one with the A4 frame and another with an IR3 frame and I decided to switch the IR3 frame with a Dye 45 frame. Not that it isn’t good, just the feel is a bit different

Wrist angle is relative to your elbow angle, which is relative to your shoulder angle.
The closer your firing hand gets to your body, the better a more vertical grip will feel.
Try making a fist with your thumb up for a 90 feel, and thumb forward for a 45.
See which one lets you wiggle your fingers with the least amount of stress.
A lot of people will change their shoulder angle and "Chicken wing" to relax the angle on their elbow and wrist with a 45, the 90 fixes that.
No right answer will exist for everyone, it's based off of flexibility, musculature and structure.

pick up a spyder sonix pro for chap and see how you like it.
i believe they were the only spyder to come with a 90* grip frame.
i put together a spyder java in glossy red with the 90* frame and a few other bits that has the same silhouette of an Angel G7 Fly.

The material on that frame is cheap, but I actually prefer the feel of it over the old Angel frames.

I have big hands and preferred the 90* frame to anything else at the time. The one aspect I did find was that when using one you have to be very specific about your setup/bottle length and personally couldn't swap between it and a 45 frame without shooting low on the 90 when I swapped back.

Thanks everyone, I dont want the gun too close to my face, it will be for a cocker ... back block are pretty but not from that close :P

I will keep looking for another electro frame (that hopefully takes 1911 panel ...) but might break and give it a go at some point, specially if i find cheap panels ...

With a cocker with a back block, forget about a 90 degree frame or even a 86 degree frame, in my book.

I'm a 45 frame with a drop backwards guy when it comes to cockers, and I still get slapped.

I see this as the same as the Glock and Beretta conundrum. Both have large, fat frames, but the curves on a Beretta make it easier and feel better to hold. The Angel frame may be big, fat and blocky, but somehow it fits right in the hand.
