Bad shoulders and pod packs

Not quite a question for experts but for those who have experience with eject packs. Due to multiple shoulder surgeries and old age plus a velcro wearing out on my old redz pack (most used pod velcro keeps opening and dropping pods) I think it's time for a new pack. It's getting difficult to reach the pods comfortably and pull them out.

Are the eject packs a viable option when playing woodsball and scenarios? I like the idea of the pod getting pushed out some but are they easy to get an empty pod back in? Will the velcro still close and hold the pod in if you don't shove the pod in far enough to stretch the eject elastic? That has always been my concern and why I never tried one.

Elastics will wear out over time so don’t leave pods in outside your play day and you will need to figure out the sweet spots for Velcro closure it might not always be ‘perfect’.

I like strapless packs and successfully use them with bunkerking pods without unwanted spill. Also easy to put pods back in. Take one with many spots so you don’t use the area where you can’t reach.

Have you tried like a unique packs that hold the pods horizontal instead of Vertical? It may change the angle you pull pods at an not hurt. The BK and HK strapless packs work well. But it still takes some force to get the pods in and out.

Strapless packs are nice, but I've seen more than a few people reach back to grab a tube just to flip a lid open & dump it right on the ground. Or accidentally bump something & open one. I myself won't use strapless packs for that reason alone.

I just moved on from my Redz 3+2 myself. Went with a HK Army Eject 3+2. I'm not a fan of the HK Army branding, but it's a decent pack. Those Redz ones were some of best packs IMO.

That was my main concern as I can't imagine it's very easy to fully stretch the elastic back with the pod when replacing a pod on your back and using 1 hand

I mean, you can always cut the elastic if you don't like it. I might do that myself once I use it a few more days & see how I like it. It might kill any resale value though.

I think i might like the fact it pushes the pod out when needed. i just wanted to make sure I could get it back in after it's empty since in woodsball and scenario it's not practical to drop the pods.

Honestly, I'd suggest looking into the magnetic pod packs. The velcro can be pretty rough on the shoulders, I know, I got bad shoulders too. The only reason I didn't go with the magnetic was I figured it might stick to the washing machine.

Y'all cripples think about going back to a horizontal pack, like a JT Pod Slammer? I find them much easier to use then an upside down vertical pack. I have the tops of full ones facing left and empties I insert from the right.

I’m fat and have t-Rex arms and always find putting empty pods back in difficult. Even getting pods out at times can be a chore.

My fix for this was to look for a horizontal pack. I ended up ordering a Don pack from PB Mafia and asked him to put an elastic loop to hold a third pod. It is pretty rare for me to need more than 2 or 3 pods at a time. If 2+1 isn’t enough you could see if he could do a horizontal 3+2.

I did consider the horizontal packs but in my searches the only ones I found had a +1 for a remote tank setup. They don't seem too popular anymore.

It is their clearance account, but I&I Sports is getting rid of theirs. I have considered getting one of these for when I am not using a remote, but decided against it because I have an Indian springs 3 pod harness that is probably enough for my shoebox since it will run out of air if I try and shoot more than three pods anyway. Also I really prefer the Renegade horizontal pod packs since those will put six in a row down my back, rather than using elastic to increase capacity.

The packs I used are molle 3 pod holders each mounted on condor leg drop things. Pits the pods on you legs at arms reach. I'll see if I can get a picture of the setup.

Got the HK Eject 5+4 today in the mail with my other new toy. I think I am going to like it. I can reclose the flaps without having to force the empty tube back up to stretch the eject straps.

For horizontal pod packs if you can get a PB mafia "the hit" or "the don" the might work, I use one almost exclusively.

I used to run that in the cough 90s. You may be able to find some older redz packs.
