    Freak bore compatibility guide

    Hello MCB,

I have been thinking of doing this for a while, and if I don't start now, I'll never start ...

If you have any to add, post it bellow and I'll add them to the list (I'll also organize and clean it soon)

    Will freak bore:
    - cocker - Angel
    - smart part
    - Spyder
    - A5
    - 98 - bolt will need to be trimmed on the front for smaller insert
    - Blazer - very thin!
    - CCI - VM68
    - Sterling - may be very thin
    - Armson Semi and Pump: Armson Semi bolt tip must be sanded down for smaller inserts.
    - line SI

    Will not freak bore:
    - ATS
    - Traccer/Maverick
    - F1/Raptor can not only because the insert can slide into the body, maybe the Carter barrel trick mentioned above could work with them as well?

    Wired ones:
    - Vector: you'll need to chop up the barrel and loose the front retaining hook
    - Sheridan: Walz freak system (I'll post the link)
    - unibody Nelson's: will need to chop the barrel, bore from the front and make a custom retaining but.
    - Carter barrels: but 2 things need to happen. 1 - you need to wrap the insert in thread tape to make it "stick" to the barrel. 2 - It is preferable to have the barrel bored an extra few millimeters in order to allow the bolt to move slightly into the barrel and not sitck to/pull out the insert. This allows full sealing of the bolt to complete the firing cycle.

    Not sure:
    - ICD
    - AGD

    Thanks for y'all's help,

Also, should I add a list of people who offer freak bore service?

Pretty sure tracer/maverick barrels are to thin to be bored.

I think twist loc agd barrels are not worth the trouble from what I've read.

          VM barrels can be bored

Sterling barrels can as well, depending on the barrel, some of them are pretty thin.

F1/Raptor can not only because the insert can slide into the body, maybe the Carter barrel trick mentioned above could work with them as well?

Armson Semi and Pump barrels can be bored. Armson Semi bolt tip must be sanded down for smaller inserts.

Not sure about ICD, I assume so since they used to sell freak backs for them, but I’m gonna find out for sure in the next couple weeks as I just sent 2 of them to BMC.

Regarding AGD twist lock barrels, the only freak bored ones that I have seen have been Dye Boomsticks - two piece obviously. I haven't thoroughly checked one out though, so I don't know if the Dye back is perfectly matched for the length of the freak insert, or if the front was slightly bored as well.

In any case, it should be possible to bore a twist lock barrel, provided it is a two piece or if it is cut to length and threaded for a tip to retain the freak insert.

Tactical Kaner kits and Shocker Sport All American Barrels can be bored

The stock barrel from my old Outkast could not be bored, too thin in the back according to the machinist.

I used Deryk from Get Freak Bored (on Facbook) here in Ontario (Niagara area I think).

One was done with Get Freak Bored, the other through Toronto Paintball and Airsoft. They were both $50 a piece. Well worth it.

Can tippmann SL 68 II slip fit barrels be freak bored,or are they too thin?

The problem is retaining the insert - the bolt enters the barrel and there is no lip in the breech to prevent the insert from coming out when the bolt is cycled back and forth.

Lets see. I currently own an ICD threaded Freak back. Nothing odd about it. Though I had to sand down the tip of a spare bolt when using the smaller sized inserts on my ICD threaded B2K since the bolt seemed to enter the barrel slightly. No issues on my Alley Cat.

Not sure why you have A5 and Model98 as yes and Raptor/F1 as no, since the bolt CAN pull the insert into breech of the tippmanns if you bore for the insert on the stock barrel from the back. This is why on SP Freak backs for A5's and M98 the insert is front loaded and it isn't bored all the way back to the breech.

SP did make a Raptor Freak back. Not sure how it loaded inserts (front or back) and they are quite rare. Most got snatched up and altered slightly for use on Sovereigns.

I do have in my parts collection a Freak bored ATS barrel. You lose the unisizer, and the insert sticks out the back of the barrel for same length that the unisizer took up. So a little janky, but functional.
