    08 PMR gas hog

Finally got the chance to test my PMR and in testing on a 48/3k tank just ripping without paint is draining the tank pressure incredibly fast. Is this because I don’t have paint in it?

After rebuilding and lubing, I turned the pressure adjustment screw out 3 full turns. From what I recall, 3.5 turns was about at where the stock pressure is set.

If I remember right, the pmr should have double o-rings on the back of the bolt and it shuts off air to the chamber while firing. If I'm correct, it would be shooting a fixed volume of air whether there is a ball or not. 48/3 is a pretty small tank, if you're used to a 68 it may just seem to be going through it fast.

These weren't that has efficient to begin with but not knowing what pressure and velocity you're shooting at isn't helping the situation.

Good point. I took the gun outside and shot it over the radarchron. It was shooting ~315fps so I tuned to about 275fps and it seemed to be a little better on air consumption.

I guess I’m just comparing it to my other spoolie, a Phenom that gets ~7 pods off a 48/3k, so I was aghast when I saw the pressure drop so darn fast with the pmr. the Phenom operates at a higher pressure (~280psi) so it might be more efficient than the pmr at ~150psi.

Might be helpful to also know how many shots you were getting, just saying "it's using a lot of air" doesn't really help us

But yeah, these were not very efficient. I think you can do some dwell tuning depending on the board though

I’ll do a better job at recording how much air it uses for 1k pressure and let you know.

They aren't very air efficient. But stock, Dye had their dwell set at 40ms or something astronomical. It made for a very smooth shot, but terrible efficiency. Drop that down until you start dropping velocity, then bump it back up a few ms for reliability. That'll help you out a lot.
