    Thermal Bluing Brass

Hey, I've got the itch to try my hand at bluing some brass parts. Inspiration found here: https://youtu.be/NhjiIPohUyw?t=300

Anyone tried thermal bluing before? The parts I'm looking to try are the size of a pair of cufflinks. The video has quite the elegant setup. I was thinking of maybe going with something like a small cast iron skillet I would fill with brass shavings to try and emulate the fancy box these parts were blued in.

I can't think of a reason that wouldn't work except perhaps that cast iron seasoning would maybe burn at this high a temperature and negatively impact the bluing on the part?

Kind of a shot in the dark, random theories also welcome.

    Brass doesn't blue like steel.
