    WGP Autococker Regulator versions

I’ve rebuild a lot of stock regs, yet never came across one with a stainless piston. Does anyone know if this was made by WGP or aftermarket?

I bought some used WGP LPRs with pistons that were a silvery colour a while back (I can't remember if it was clear aluminum or stainless). I don't really have any reason to believe they are aftermarket.

purchased used w/o packaging, how do you know for sure? The piston shape, belville washers and the dimensions of the reg seat carrier are all different. But the outer reg housing is identical to a stock wgp reg.

Source says this came from Belsales, does anyone have a wgp reg from Belsales to check? They did modify sto 3ways for the angry 3 way

Keith Belsales told me part of their process was "blueprinting inline WGP regulators".

Perhaps a stainless reg seat was part of that.

I could swear I have seen several of them, did they use the stainless in ergos and black magic regs? Is the air passage the same size through the piston?

i just did two Eros, both were brass. not to say they don’t exist

Yes same airway diameters. Stainless does not have that outer step up at the base.

            Stainless is 11g
            brass is 11.8g

only benefit I can see is more resistant to scratching from debris.

At that time it may have been cheaper to source Stainless in the UK than brass, as well.

all WGP regs were almost identical internals, there were some differences in spring stack (number of bellville washers). all brass as much as i can remember

gotta think to that stainless has more of a potential to scratch/wear actual reg housing
