Eyes on a side feed cocker

I am working on a silly project involving a side feed cocker body and an eblade. I would like to drill it for eyes and am wondering if anyone has ever made this work.

I was thinking of drilling the opposite side but I would need a body with no detent then I also wouldn't have a detent.
"but we all have electros and you guys only have pumps, this wont be fair"

    (chuckling quietly) "we know"

I think your best bet would be to put it on the detent side and fashion a custom eye cover.
