Hammer spring length with a Belsales Rex Dialer?

Curious if anyone can clarify/confirm for me what the proper hammer spring length is when using an old Belsales Rex Dialer in a Cocker?

I was always under the impression that you had to use the shorter pre-98 1-5/8" hammer spring instead of the much more common post-98 full 2" length springs. But a recent pic I saw of a complete Belsales/Eclipse internals set made it look like a full 2" spring was being used, so I'm not sure now.

They were specific sized, and there were 2 different springs. One softer and one slightly stiffer.
