What to use to seal threads

I remember using blue loctite a while back. What should i use to seal metal air line threads?

I use teflon tape quite a bit. It does that job reliably with little hassle.

I always use blue loctite, it looks much cleaner and I don't have to worry about chunks of Teflon getting stuck in my solenoids.

Testing or just get it done I use Teflon tape. For a clean look without frayed strands and trimming, I use Loctite 545 or blue.

Permatex (and a few others) makes a thread sealant that works well: https://www.permatex.com/product-cat.../?locale=en_us Unless you are doing a lot of work a little tube will last for ages.

Blue Loctite is preferred, but teflon tape gets used pretty heavily around here.

I have been using this and love it. It's like half tape and half paste so it doesn't slip like teflon tape, also just one time around the threads will seal since it is thicker, it's a darker color so none of that bright white hanging out, also easier to clean off the excess that does stick out, seals but still easy to get fittings back apart. I have even cut it in half using half strips and that is still enough to seal.

I use blue loctite, unless I really want to test something, then it's the teflon tape.

Loctite 222MS (purple) for small threads like on the pops asa
242 (blue) general use good for 1/8 npt thread on most asa
290 (very thin green) when you forgot to put on 242 and its already together

For these to work properly the threads should be as clean as you can get them IPA is your friend. If you want to use it as a sealant remember to be sure to make sure there is product all around the thread. If your locktite will not set such as with some SS to Aluminum connections you may need an activator / primer. In such a case try Loctite 7471

Never use 271 (red) on any paintball equipment. The combination of heat and high torque almost always results in damage to the parts.

If you ever have a press fit feedneck come out. Try 680 (thick green) with some activator. This is typically used to hold in loose bearings in engines. While not as good as a true interference fit its pretty dang close.
