Tell me about this STBB -DGT Limited

    Hi All,

I picked up a massive lot of really old and absolutely cruddy paintball gear off Craigslist a couple of weeks ago as a winter project. After shipping off a couple to another member, I began working through the remaining 22 guns -all STBBs of various types (Spyders, Piranhas, Rebels, Diablos, etc.). After working through the ones I knew about to triage how many I could save and get running again, I ended up with a few total losses and ...this.

It's called a DGT Limited. I had originally tossed it in the junk box because it was so grimy and was in pieces with zip-ties holding bits on. Once I got to it and started scrubbing, I discovered a high quality STBB.

It's got several features I'm surprised by, including:

It's all metal construction, with anodizing that is deep and almost flawless.
Integrated expansion chamber with quick disconnect airline
    Chromed hammer
    Rear velocity adjuster
    Wire detent
    Aluminum venturi bolt
And, best of all .... Cocker threaded.

I've got it cleaned up with all seals replaced (typical Spyder-style internals), and it cycles fine without air. Ran out of that rebuilding all the other things first.

Anyway, I'm at a total loss to find anything about this gun. My Google-fu has turned up a single example from a 7-yr-old classified ad with nothing but two pictures.

Does anyone else recognize or know anything about this mystery STBB?

They were short lived, for good reason. A little cool for nostalgia sake but it wears off quickly.

Oh neat I didn’t realize these were made by Avalon. With the Commando line using a regular spyder style extrusion, what on earth made them produce a parallel line of stbb guns with the weird diamond shaped extrusion?

But why two different extrusion types? One would have been less effort. I still don't understand

I'm curious about Avalon, if anyone knows. I seem to remember they were based in Cypress, TX, which is my home town. But I can't confirm that.

Looks like Houston according to their old site: https://web.archive.org/web/20020202...c/company.html

Ah! Yeah, so not Cypress. Cypress was NW Houston, essentially. Looks like they were SW. Still close enough to be local. Neat. I should hunt down a Commando GT one day.
