What's the safe way to remove a reg without destroying tank threads? Would really like one of those First Strike 17/4500 tanks, can't find bottle only anymore, but don't want to use the FS reg.

My local field has some sort of tool for it, although it is kept in the back so I don't know exactly what it is. CP also makes a gizmo to help with it: https://customproducts.us/products/detail/5458 -

I have a couple pieces of 2x4 I use as soft jaws in my bench vice - I made some cutouts for the gauge and fill nipple and use a strap wrench on the tank.Comment

I beat the crap out of the fill nipple with a rubber mallet until the reg breaks loose. It helps if you swear a lot and throw stuffComment

I just remembered BMC makes both aluminum and 3D printed reg removers, the 3D printed being much cheaper...Comment

Just be sure to air up the tank really good before you remove it, it will help be sure they come apart faster! 🤣
PLEASE DON"T DO THAT!
Seriously though, I have had a hard time removing the FS regs. They are sometimes coated over the edge of the reg and it might be hard to get it lose. I ended up cutting around it a little to help once you see where the break should be.-------------

They have gone up as well, it was 30 when I got it. Ninja wants 100 for basically a plastic coated version of the same thing but they're specifically only does ninja regs. While this one is designed around CP regs there's enough space to accommodate most brands as long as they are a 4 hole design (2 burst disk, gauge and fill nipple) obviously, won't work with stuff like the myth regs that only have 3 holes scaled evenly
