Does anyone do iFit Barrel boring?

It's very common to see freak boring, but I don't have many freak inserts. I do, however, have a bunch of iFit inserts.

They have a little lip on them, but other than that would this be hard for someone to do?

Doesn't Techt still make the backs for these? I assume it would be way cheaper to buy a back and then put it on the barrel. Plus then you can use it on any barrel with the same marker thread.

I have the back, but I'm trying to solve the aesthetic issue.

So, since these inserts load in the front of the adapter, you want them to trim the barrel shank, and bore 2-ish inches in, similar to a Carter insert I assume?

I don't know these technical terms like shank, but basically I would assume the best way is to bore in from the threads like you would for a freak barrel, and then bore slightly larger at the end to accomodate the lip.

The shank is the non threaded portion of the barrel behind the threads. The wall of the most barrels might be too thin to bore it out for the lip. What could be done is remove the rear part of the shank so the lip becomes part of the shank. This would also run into problems if the barrel shank is smaller than the lip. Also, iirc the bores of iFit inserts are tapered from back to front, so you might get some issues with blow by or concentricity.

Are you planning to reverse the direction of the insert? typically they are installed from the front of the barrel adapter and slid towards the rear of the marker.
Is there an issue if you flip the insert? is there a sharp edge?
I am sure that boring for the insert can be done, but i would check that before heading down that path.

I would ask BMC Fabrication (Brandon McCall) on Facebook. He bores for freak and other types of fun stuff
