    Milling work of 98 Autococker

    Hello,

Please help me identify the milling work and history of this RF Pre cocker. ANS parts. I remember back in the 2000's seeing this type of amature millwork.

Just trying to preserve history and give the guy some love. He's seen better days...

Even if its a homebrew job, its look symmetrical and the gaps between the cuts are regular and even.

Can you tell me more about this work? similarities but definitely not saying its the same, although for the era, could be have the same influences of whom ever was doing the work.

I kinda like it. Looks like toppled dominoes. If it's amateur, they did a great job keeping it all symmetrical.

Yeah totally agree. I like the look of it, besides being chrome. It being chrome I would think this is not just some home brew. Dont see major milling markings. Would have been expensive to chrome just one body.

Back in the day chrome shops that small would charge like $50-75 to do cocker bodies.

Granted......those shops I used to used got shut down by the nys EPA too lol

Yeah, "Chrome" such as this body was cheap, but was an additional expense to the work that needed to be done to customize a marker. I used to envy the work being done by most enthusiast back then to individualize their markers.

I am curious if these options and statements are coming from what is currently in the market of Milling work. Yes, I agree that its not the best work ever seen but for the time when milling work was still being explored and at its infant stage, its easy to compare this type of work to what is known today. All bias aside, like I stated, I am trying to preserve the work that "WE" all love about autocockers.

The "opinion" comes from. It has no other major earmarks or tells of any of the larger shops. The only thing it looks close to is Jeff Orr's work but it's too sloppy to be his milling and he tended to use ball end mills.

I think you're underestimating the hive-mind and knowledge of MCB

This wasn't done by a recognizable paintball airsmith and is not a notable collector gun. Will still be a fun one to rebuild and you won't have to worry about dings or damage when playing!
