    AKA sidewinder disassembly

I am in the process of rebuilding an AKA sidewinder reg. I have everything taken apart down to the swivel. In Tim Firpo's video he mentions heating the swivel with a torch and using pieces of wood in a vise to unscrew the bottom. A couple questions:

    1) What size of torch/how hot should I make the swivel before attempting to unscrew it?
    2) Do the pieces of wood need to be shaped or have a round cutout to hold the swivel?

    Thanks for the help!

Smaller torches generally allow people to control them better. I will say though refillable torches can be a pain to refill. What you want to do is get it hot enough to break any loctite bond that may be there. You can often tell that happens when the part has a little smoke coming off of it. Use a little heat at a time. Too hot and it will discolor the parts. Again too hot and you may discolor the part.

doing a circular cut may allow you to grip the part a bit better.
