Fixing VL2000 Shredder

Hello all!

I have 3 vl2000 Shredders. I remember reading years ago a quick fix to reduce the 18vt down to 12 so they don’t burn out. As I am cycling down my collection I was wanting to run one of these bad boys because, well I mean they fit so perfect on a 98 STO.
Anyone remember what I need to get? I thought it was a resistor Wired in between the dual 9vt harness and the motor.

It is a resistor, but I don't have a part number or anything. Good luck!

I’m not familiar with the mod but you could easily do a voltage divider circuit that consists of 2 resistors. Say 5k and 10k ohm. That would give you 12 volts. Just make sure they’re enough wattage to handle the current.

Interesting thought... what part of the revy board reduces them down?

Random, the school aged program I run work with Scouts and they were talking about using diodes to reduce voltage with solar panels... would that be possible?

I think this is what would work.... Anyone that isn’t a hack like myself want to chime in?? I know this looks like the piece I had been given. It should reduce it down 6vt so wiring harness than this then wires to motor?
