Viewloader Revvy: Question 9v vs 12v

Question: I have a functional 9v revvy but wanted to upgrade it to a 12v x-board. If you ditch the 9v board and add a x-board, extra 9v battery, will it function the same as 12v hopper? I know it will all hook up but I didn’t know if the electric motors are different between the two hoppers. Will the 9v motor spin as fast? Thanks.

Are you sure there's enough space in the battery compartment for two 9 volts? Years ago I believe I tried to change my 9v into 12v and the threading for the paddle and the battery compartment gave me issues if I recall correctly.

9v has a spacer in the battery compartment I believe. Just toss that. You may have to also get different eyes/motor though. Sometimes it's not easy as just changing a board. Also a better paddle vs the 2 prong.

Yes, in the past I have put a complete 12v xboard internals in an older Viewloader shell. It was an older style that I bought in the late 90s. Not like the later Brass Eagle hopper. It all fit fine. You just toss the plastic spacer out. As Viking said I don’t know if the 9v motor/eyes are compatible with the 12v xboard. I have motors from both but they don’t really seem different.
