For a little more detail, it works kinda like a water faucet. If you turn the adjuster all the way to when it stops, the valve cuts off airflow/pressure. As you turn the adjuster screw out, it opens the valve, increasing pressure.
If you need to decrease pressure, it is advisable to completely depressurize the system before turning the screw in so as to not damage the seat with the piston.
