Wood foregrip attachment?

i have made a triangler foregrip similar to what is on the uk l85. It is drilled lengthwise and is a clamshell desigh.
The problem is how to fasten to the barrel so it wont shift. I am thinking of inserts on one side and a bolt and washer on the other.

Also posible is a pin that would go intothe m98 marker.

What if you just wrapped the barrel with some friction tape

I made a VM68 FAL with a handguard made the same way. I had the front sight/'gas block' assembly clamp to the barrel and then pinned the handguard to that.
