So I picked up these old tanks off eBay as I wanted some old Thermo valved tanks for period correct(ish) builds (both tanks and valves needed to be old for "authenticity", new tanks/valves just weren't what I wanted). Interestingly enough, they actually held air with only the smallest of leaks around the tank threads (not bad seeing as the tanks are from 1988). I've gone ahead and refurbished them, but I'm still left with a problem, I don't know their capacity. I'm guessing the smaller one is either 7oz or 9oz, and the bigger one is ~12oz? The exterior dimensions are 2" x 9.5" (50mm x 240mm) for the smaller, and 2" x 13" (50mm x 330mm) for the larger.

Are they not stamped? You might have trouble getting them filled if not.

If you want a new tank for the 10oz, they still sell them for race car air shifters.

Filled them with 7oz and 10oz and all is well, no obvious leaks anywhere.

To be period correct when playing with them you need to rock a moustache and a mullet.

So weird coincidence, as I'm just reading this post now, but I did dream I had a mullet last night. As bad as a mullet is, I was just happy to have hair on the top of my head again!

So I know they can be found cheaper, these are the same except the knob on the valve. If you want to get them filled at a field, you will have to cobble together a fill adaptor.

No worries, already have one. We regularly fill tanks for various uses that have Thermo valves.

So I was originally thinking the small one was 9oz, as it felt similar in size to what I remember a 9oz feeling like. I assumed they were the same diameter, turns out they aren't. What can I say, my right hand isn't calibrated, and is used to grasping something much, much, much smaller in diameter. However, the smaller one did turn out to be the same length as a 9oz tank though. Here's some comparison pictures.

I acquired a 9oz & a 7oz last time I played (standard valve, not thermo-valve). They are indeed super similar, but the 7oz is ever so slightly skinnier. Virtually the same length. Gonna be super comfortable on my bottomline Trracer.
