    4500 hand pump?

saw this while looking for a bleeder to screw into an Asa to use as a psi tester:... so come on it’s the cost of the hydro of my scuba.... how awful is it to pump up a 68/4500??

I've heard of people making it to 2000psi in a 13 cu lol. But I guess if you've got the time? Another common complaint is that the pump overheats and blows seals, so take it easy and let it rest.

It's probably okay for some home teching, but I doubt it would be practical for the field.

JonM has some experience. Was your review thread on the new site or the lost one?

Pumping up a 13/3k tank is a small workout, but doable. Pumping up a 26/3k is also doable, but harder. Trying to do a 68/4500 is just asking for a heart attack. Never mind that getting anywhere near 4500 psi with a hand pump is nearly impossible. For that kind of fill, a home compressor is a much better option.

Do you have an estimate on how long it takes to fill a 13k?

Are you able to fill a 68/45 enough to determine if it seals correctly? I live hours from a field and wouldn't mind an inexpensive way to test tanks for leaks occasionally.

I can fill a 13/3k tank in maybe 15 to 20 minutes. To bring a 68 ci tank up to testing pressure, it would take a very long time. I would look at something like the Yong Heng compressors if you’re looking to fill a tank that large.

As someone that has recently acquired one of these pumps, and has a 68/45, I do not advise this as a good idea

I have one of the hill Mk4 hand pumps. As noted 13/3k is a workout. And at 6’2”, the lower back gets a nice burning sensation. The first 1k comes easy, the second takes some work, the third you’ll want some body weight to aid your pump stroke. Make sure you wrap some foam around the handle as the stock rubbers will bruise your palms After multiple tanks.Trying to fill a 62/3k induces blood, sweat and hallucinations. Hans and Frans call you a girly man while a young Arnold screams “Do ittt, do it nooowwww”. The pump says it can achieve 4500, but with the effort required to get to 3000, you’re better off with a light fill or buying a compressor
