Stuck part, looking for advice

I have an old Titan where the little plunger on the front of the main spring is stuck inside the cocking knob on the bolt - the gun is inside a cosmetic shell I don't want to destroy, but can't remove with the cocking knob in place.

Is my only option drilling down thru the cocking knob to shear the pin?

The gun has been in storage for 15 Yeats and I kinda want to play it again, maybe convert it to magazine fed.

Have you soaked the stuff in penetrating oil yet?

I'd be afraid that if you drilled down into the cocking knob you'd create a burr on the knob and plunger and further fuse the two pieces together. Also what material is the cocking knob? I hope it isn't hardened. Why not try hitting the cocking knob with a cut off tool and die grinder to lower it enough to come out the back of the body tube?

I have pretty good luck with boiling water and old "frozen" paintball markers. Big pot, boil some water, immerse and let cool down naturally to the point you can handle. Boiling water will cause the various alloys to expand and contract at different rates breaking what is sticking it together (sometimes) and will not hurt most finishes (as direct flame/heat gun can). You might still need to add some penetrating oil to provide some flushing and lubrication too.

netsurferdude2 I was kinda expecting to have to drill large than the pin to be certain of shearing it, but I don't know if it keys thru the cocking knob beyond the in board side of the knob.

My fear is that the knob is hardened; but I don't know. Not having a working drill press worth mentioning, drilling is not a warm fuzzy sort of route...

I haven't hit it with cutting tools yet because I don't know that I can replace the hammer or cocking knob - not seeing much in the lines of spare parts for this marker and don't have a working relationship with any machinists near me. This is likely the route I will take to save the couple hundred I have in the cosmetics.

Try penetrating oil before doing anything else.

Also, you can buy a used Titan for around $50 so I wouldn't spend too much on having parts machined. If you do enough digging, you may be able to find the parts here.
