    O-rings

Stupid question but where does everyone get their o-rings for paintball? Is there a specific kind you have to use for paintball or can I go to harbor freight and buy an assortment?

I have gotten mine from the o-ring store for a while, but in a pinch Harbor Freight/Ace/etc. should have o-rings that will do. Just make sure you're getting the correct material for the usage.

I buy from the oring store. You can sort by size, material and hardness so you can get the exact specs you need. Stay away from the coloured kits as they don't last.

I bought a kit from HF in one of those small clear boxes of different hardware they sell and the orings all had an oblong cross section and wouldn't seal. They also weren't labeled properly. Now I just use them for tension on threads and bumpers.

Most kits you buy from stores aren't going to be super useful for paintball because they're meant for hydraulics and most of the orings will be way too big.

Would this be a good general kit for like bolts and other misc parts that take o-rings?

Yeah, this kit is perfect for that.

I heard people say this but also that it mainly comes from poor quality rings. A little over a year ago I decided to try colored rings from the o ring store, so far so good, I haven't noticed anything different from the black ones

For the op, for the most part, paintball o rings are
        AS568 (basically the "class")
        buna (the material)
        70 durometer (the hardness)

Sometimes you will need polyurethane rings
        Sometimes 90 durometer

        Just depends on the situation

For the most part though, if you want to put together a kit, I suggest sizes 003-022 in buna 70. You can get pretty far with that. That's what I have had for years and I only recently put together a selection of metric sizes to go further

I have ended up with a bunch of colour o/ring kits from various sources and haven’t had issues with them. What kills me are the really small o-rings below the standard ones, like the 004 o-ring I need for the valve stem of the NME I’m trying to rebuild. Ended up finding them Amazon and will get them in a reasonable timeframe.

I need to sit down and do an inventory and order a bunch of o-rings so I have them on hand, specially the ones that fit in the macro fittings.

Standard macro orings are 010/70. There are ones from SP that take a larger oring though.

I save things like o-rings from all of my projects, maintenance and paintball purchases. They all get thrown in a box and occasionally I get motivated and sort them out by size/material. I rarely have to buy an o-ring specifically for paintball but if I do I buy them in bulk lots (and throw the excess in the same box). The O-Ring store is one good source but have also bought some from Capt. O-ring and FLASC on-line and not had issues but many times I just take an example to a pneumatic shop locally and get them to match them.
