Mac mk1 annihilator 12 gram changer help

Need so help figuring out the quick changer ont his bad boy. The original seal was shot. Swapped it out. And now for it to seal it has to be cranked down to the point where the spring changer doesn't work

any suggestions ?
mess thinking I needed to find a softer 12 gram seal.

the bearings on inside of changer assembly can get a bit crusty with rust, along with the housing that holds them. plenty of grease on the bearings usually does the trick after a good rust removal. easy to take apart but a pita to put back together lol. it's all soft steel in there and any water or paint bits cause corrosion.

co2 seal should be fine if it doesnt leak, ive used both soft and harder ones fine on my mac-1

Might sound stupid but how exactly is the changer supposed to work

Pull down lower collar to release the 12 gram. Then slam the smaller on to clamp the new one ?

push the button/knob that's in the front to load a cartridge, make sure the slide collar snaps ALL the way forward or cartridge will eject when punctured. to eject cartridge pull slide collar towards you. you may need to adjust for cartridge length, just screw in or unscrew whole assembly like a pgp change knob.
