    Small O-Ring on Large Object

Finally go the proper sized o-ring for the valve on my NME. Trouble is getting the damn on the valve stem. The stem is girthy, and I can’t stretch that little o-ring on it. Please share your tips! (And just the tip…)

    had to be done

Get yourself some snap ring pliers like these

Put the o ring on the end and open them up a bit. A lot of times I end up putting the pliers over the stem and getting the ring on that way.

Thanks! Have a whole case of those bad boys. Didn’t think about that. Let’s see how it goes. When in doubt I’ll just keep adding lube on the pin.

Every time the orings snap and break.

Maybe a softer durometer one is needed to stretch that far?

You could try drilling a hole just larger than the shaft diameter in something flat and hard. Im eyeballing sanded plywood. Or better yet a small piece of formica(sp?l

Then lube the orings up and place it over the hole. Then press it on?
