What is this, I don't understand why there is a tiny ass hole in this, the little square hole in the pic, it's not a reg there's no way to adjust it

That looks like a vl gas through. Yeah I have not seen one with that inside it or a c-clip holding anything in.
Could that be sort of filter trying to keep dirt and moisture when using C02. Similar PTP using the brass filters that went inside the hard line fittings.

I just figured I'd ask before I went digging into this thing, after looking at it though I'm sure this is why the AM sentinel I bought wouldn't reach proper velocity

I remember seeing advertisements for gas-thru grips that helped stop liquid CO2, so either aerator or something to help transfer heat faster from the grip would be my guess what it is. Just a guess.
I never picked up snap-ring pliers, and years ago I managed to take a pair of dental-picks and pull one out of a reg of some sort after about 15-20 minutes of struggling.

Sold on stock Sentinels; it's an expansion chamber. Lots of the old designs were a labyrinth of small ports to get the liquid to go critical. Harbor Freight makes a good enough pair of tiny ring pliers, which will turn it into a gas throughFeedback
